On June 17, 2026, the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine announced the adoption of a decision to launch a mechanism for long-term contracts in the electricity market.
According to the published information, non-household consumers will have the opportunity to purchase electricity under fixed conditions for a quarter, half a year, and a year through competitive auctions. For the pilot launch, it is planned to offer 4% of the generation volumes of state-owned electricity producers — NNEGC “Energoatom” and PrJSC “Ukrhydroenergo”.
The stated goal of the mechanism is to increase price predictability for consumers and producers, create conditions for long-term business planning, and attract investments to the energy sector.
At the same time, as of now, only the official announcement of the Government has been published in the public domain. For a comprehensive understanding, it is necessary to review the text of the relevant resolution of the Cabinet of Ministers of Ukraine and the approved procedure for conducting such auctions.
