Important update from the European electricity market!
The 2024 CACM Annual Cost Report has been officially published. This key document is jointly prepared by all Transmission System Operators (TSOs) and Nominated Electricity Market Operators (NEMOs) in the EU, in accordance with the Commission Regulation (EU) No 2015/1222 — the CACM Regulation.
What is the CACM Cost Report 2024?
It is an official annual report that provides a transparent overview of the costs incurred by TSOs and NEMOs for the development, operation, and enhancement of the EU electricity market coupling mechanisms.
This includes:
- Day-Ahead Market (SDAC)
- Intraday Market (SIDC)
What’s inside the report?
The report outlines detailed costs related to:
- Technical infrastructure
- Software development
- Market algorithms and adaptation
- Market administration
- Operational expenditures
It also indicates how costs are distributed, who contributed what, and how congestion income (earned when transmission capacity between countries is limited) is allocated.
Why is this important?
The CACM Cost Report promotes:
- Transparency in financing of the integrated European electricity market
- Market efficiency and competitiveness
- Regulatory oversight and accountability
Ukraine is moving toward full integration with the EU electricity market. Understanding these reports and mechanisms is essential for market participants who plan to operate under the new cross-border market model.
The full report is available on ENTSO-E and EU market platforms — and we encourage Ukrainian stakeholders to explore it and prepare for the next stage of integration.
